    • Course aim: 
      To provide learners with a basic understanding of how data is modelled, stored, manipulated, and analysed using databases and visualisation techniques.

      Learning outcomes:

      By the end of this course, the student will be able to:

      1. Describe and explain data using a variety of visualization techniques and software tools.
      2. Analyse the data requirements of simple systems and model those requirements using conceptual and logical data modelling techniques.
      3. Create a simple database that includes tables, columns, primary keys, foreign keys and simple queries.

      Student Resources:
      Learning materials will be provided as required during the course via Moodle.
      Any other reference material will be provided by the lecturer throughout the course.

      Completion criteria:

      Students must attempt all assessments and achieve an overall grade of 50% to be successful in this course.

      Assessment Notes

      1.  Question flag - you can flag a question. This puts a red mark on a question that you might want to return to later.
      2. This test is marked out of 100 and it is worth 40% of the total course mark.
      3. At the end of the test, press FINISH ATTEMPT. You can select an option to return to the test and revise your answers OR
      4. To finish the test, select SUBMIT ALL AND FINISH.
      5. If you are still working on the test when the timer stops, your attempt will be automatically saved.
