- Course aim:
  To provide learners with a basic understanding of how data is modelled, stored, manipulated, and analysed using databases and visualisation techniques.
  
  Learning outcomes:
  By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
  Describe and explain data using a variety of visualization techniques and software tools.
  Analyse the data requirements of simple systems and model those requirements using conceptual and logical data modelling techniques.
  Create a simple database that includes tables, columns, primary keys, foreign keys and simple queries.
  
  Student Resources:
  Learning materials will be provided as required during the course via Moodle.
  Any other reference material will be provided by the lecturer throughout the course.
  Completion criteria:
  Students must attempt all assessments and achieve an overall grade of 50% to be successful in this course.

At the end of week 2, we will review key concepts in database administration and security, focusing on ensuring data integrity, managing user access, and protecting against security threats. Finally, we will then assess your understanding of covered topics through Test 2 for the week.
