    • Engaging scenarios

      • Scenario-based learning opportunities

We know that adult learners retain and transfer knowledge through opportunities to apply learning in practice and real-life situations. Scenarios and case study activities and examples are a great way to do this.

Try some branching scenarios to give learners the opportunity to choose and test out various responses in a low-risk setting. You can also have some fun with this with your "poor choice" branches (only where appropriate!).

Alternatively, provide case studies and reflective questions.

Here are some examples of branching scenarios and case study learning opportunities:

      • Discussion forums

Discussion forums provide a good option for using scenarios.  Providing a scenario and questions to guide discussion can be a simple yet powerful way of creating engagement between students as well as promoting critical thinking.
